My interest as a costume designer lies in the collaborative process of telling a story — creating a time, place and feel for the overall production, and working with actors to create believable and honest characters, while at the same time bringing new and original ideas to the table.
Over 20 years of working in every facet of the Costume Department, from sewing to supervising, on set to buying, has allowed me to develop a comprehensive range of skills and deep understanding of the process that informs and strengthens my contribution as a designer. I have also had the opportunity to work with some incredibly talented designers, helping to bring their vision to life through my roles as Assistant Costume Designer and Crowd Designer.
My skill set covers a broad range, from costume history research and illustration to costume construction using a variety of materials. After graduating from WAAPA in Costume, I worked for Black Swan Theatre Company and Western Australian Ballet before moving into film and television, with my work taking me to the UK and New Zealand.
Now based in Melbourne, I recently had the opportunity to design the costumes for the upcoming A24 film HOTEL HOTEL HOTEL HOTEL, starring Daniel Kaluuya and directed by Michael Shanks. Previously, I was the Costume Designer on the incredibly moving Stan series Invisible Boys, starring Joseph Zada, Joe Klocek, Zach Blampied and Aydan Calafiore, and directed by Nick Verso.
